These 18th-century Ottoman hand-painted wooden panels depict two Egyptian Christian Coptic saints. Saint Paul of Thebes (Anbā Būlā), known as the first Christian hermit, who symbolized a life of complete solitude and devotion. Saint John the Short (also called John Colobus) is celebrated for his humility and spiritual guidance.
Together, these panels embody the rich Christian Coptic heritage of Egypt, making them a unique spiritual and historical treasure and highly decorative feature.
