Antique Indian Brass Gagri Water Pot Hand Engraved Large 37cm
Antique Indian Brass Gagri Water Pot Hand Engraved Large 37cm
A substantial early 20th century Indian brass water vessel of traditional Gagri form, distinguished by its generous scale and finely executed hand engraving. The surface is richly decorated with repeating foliate panels, each carefully chisel-cut against a textured cross-hatched ground, framed by geometric and wave-pattern borders.
The rounded, flattened body and short flared neck are characteristic of North Indian domestic vessels, particularly those produced in Kashmir and the Punjab region. The engraving remains crisp and irregular in a way that clearly reflects hand workmanship, rather than later machine-applied decoration.
Its size and weight give it strong presence, making it particularly suited as a standalone decorative object within interior settings.
