Antique Persian Khatamkari Mirror with Painted Doors & Geometric Inlay
Antique Persian Khatamkari Mirror with Painted Doors & Geometric Inlay
A finely crafted Persian Khatamkari mirror featuring hinged painted doors, intricate geometric micro-mosaic inlay and traditional figural decoration. The exterior doors are decorated with hand-painted courtly scenes framed by floral ornament and calligraphic panels, while the reverse displays an elaborate geometric design centred around a star motif.
The frame and panels are covered with exceptionally detailed Khatam work, a highly skilled Persian marquetry technique employing countless individual pieces of wood, metal and bone arranged into repeating geometric patterns. Combined with the painted scenes and aged mirror plate, the result is a richly decorative object that reflects several of the most celebrated traditions of Persian craftsmanship.
An attractive decorative piece for collectors of Middle Eastern art, interior designers and those seeking distinctive handmade objects with strong visual character and historic charm.
