Early 20th Century Arabic Brass Dallah Coffee Pot, Levant Region
Early 20th Century Arabic Brass Dallah Coffee Pot, Levant Region
A finely proportioned early 20th century Arabic brass dallah, hand-raised and finished in traditional workshop practice. The form follows the classic Gulf coffee pot silhouette, with a rounded base rising to a narrow neck and domed lid, surmounted by a turned finial and fitted with a long, elegantly curved spout with hinged lip. The surface retains a warm, naturally aged patina, with areas of darkened oxidation to the lower body indicative of use over flame. Around the upper body runs a band of stamped arabesque ornament, beneath which sits a shield-shaped cartouche bearing a stylised Arabic maker’s mark reading “Ali.” The construction is notably hand-worked, with irregular concentric lines to the base and subtle variation in the shoulder banding, distinguishing it from later fully machine-made examples. Likely produced in a Levantine workshop for use within Gulf coffee culture, this piece represents an authentic and functional example of early 20th century Middle Eastern metalwork.
