A substantial and highly decorative antique Indian betel nut box, or paan daan, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. Hand-worked in copper with a fully tinned interior, the piece is fitted with a domed lid, cast bronze handle, and original chain supports, all retaining a rich, aged patina consistent with prolonged use.
Internally, the box retains its original configuration, including multiple lidded containers used for storing lime, areca nut, and associated condiments.
