Large Antique Tinned Copper Vessel with Calligraphic Cartouches, Ottoman/Qajar Style
Large Antique Tinned Copper Vessel with Calligraphic Cartouches, Ottoman/Qajar Style
A substantial tinned copper vessel of Near Eastern type, decorated with stamped and chased bands of geometric ornament and calligraphic cartouches in Persian/Arabic script. The interior remains tin-lined, a traditional finish used on copper kitchen and household wares, while the base shows darker firing/handling wear consistent with genuine use and age. This type of heavy gauge, tinned copperware is strongly associated with the Ottoman/Turkish and Persian (Qajar) copper working traditions and dates to around late 19th/Early 20th Century.
With its strong, architectural form and time-softened patina, it reads superbly as a decorative statement piece—ideal for open shelving, console styling, or as a planter/cachepot, jardiniere (with an inner liner).
Dimensions: Height 20 cm; outer diameter 32.5 cm; inner diameter 28 cm; weight 1.873 kg.
